BBC Weather does not publish exactly how its forecast is made, so its accuracy cannot be independently verified. What we can grade is the open models: the Met Office model scored 86/100 in our test for the UK. Watching those models is the honest way to judge it.
How BBC Weather makes its forecast. BBC Weather's pages credit MeteoGroup for its forecasts, and how that forecast is made is not published. In July 2025 the BBC and the Met Office announced a new long-term partnership, to be developed in phases. That matters, because it means no one outside BBC Weather can check its forecast against the recorded weather the way we check the open models.
Our verdict. BBC Weather's MeteoGroup forecast is closed, so we cannot score it directly. The Met Office model, from the BBC's announced new partner, is graded in the UK scoreboard on this page.
